Delete a NOID account

A NOID user can send an authenticated deletion command from the Android app or submit an external request without reinstalling the app. This page explains both paths, verification and limited retention.

Delete directly from the Android app

The quickest route is available in the official NOID Android client. Connect the app to the production relay, open Settings, choose Delete account and app data, review the confirmation and approve the request. The app sends the deletion command through the authenticated connection, so the relay can associate the request with the correct NOID identity without asking the user to reveal a PIN or installation secret.

After the relay confirms deletion, the Android client clears the account identity, authentication material, trusted peer keys, local phonebook entries, local conversation display data and app settings held in its private storage. If the phone is offline or the relay is unavailable, reconnect before trying again. Uninstalling NOID or clearing Android app storage removes local information but does not, by itself, authenticate a request to delete the server account.

Request deletion without the app

A person who no longer has the installed app can use the public Contact page. Select Account deletion request, provide the NOID address concerned, a reply email that can be accessed, and a short explanation that the app or original device is unavailable. Do not send a PIN, password, device credential, private encryption key, message contents or a copy of another person’s conversation.

An external request is not automatically trusted merely because somebody knows a public NOID address. AIEng / NOID may ask for reasonable account-control information already associated with the installation or service activity. The team will avoid requesting secrets that could be used to sign in. If control cannot be established safely, the requester will be told what non-secret evidence is still needed rather than exposing another user’s account.

Information covered by deletion

Once a valid deletion request is completed, active account information associated with the NOID is removed from normal service use. This includes the NOID identity and authentication verifier, current account settings, installation or device registration information, server-side contact and presence state, and operational message or call history linked to the account where that history is not required for a permitted retention reason.

Local contacts, trusted peer keys and locally displayed conversation records are controlled by each installation. The authenticated in-app flow clears them on the requesting Android installation. Information stored on a different device, in a recipient’s own records, or in a screenshot or export created by another person cannot be removed from that other person’s device by deleting the sender’s NOID account.

Pending Rewards entries associated with a deleted account stop being available for future account use. A requester should resolve a genuine balance dispute before deletion because identity and anti-abuse checks may no longer be possible after the active account record has been removed.

Limited information that may be retained

Deletion does not require the removal of every record in every circumstance. A limited record may be retained when reasonably necessary for security, fraud and abuse prevention, legal obligations, tax or payment records, resolving an existing dispute, enforcing the Terms, or documenting that a deletion request was completed. Retained records are not used to continue the deleted account as an active NOID identity or to serve advertising to that deleted account.

Security backups and logs can have separate rolling lifecycles. Information already present in a protected backup may remain until that backup is overwritten under the applicable retention cycle. It is not restored to resume normal operation of a deleted account. Aggregated or irreversibly de-identified measurements that can no longer be linked to the person may also remain.

Advertising and consent data

Deleting a NOID account does not control information held independently by Google, an app store, a device operating system, an internet provider or another third party. Android advertising privacy choices can be reviewed through the app’s Privacy Options control when Google’s User Messaging Platform reports that the control is required. Device-level advertising settings are managed through Android and the relevant Google account controls.

This deletion page is intentionally ad-free. It does not load the Google AdSense or AdMob advertising tag, and submitting a deletion request is never conditioned on viewing or interacting with an advertisement.

Questions about scope

For questions about a specific record, use the Contact page and choose Privacy request. Describe the record category and approximate date without including private conversation content or credentials. The Privacy Notice explains service data, device information, communication metadata, advertising, consent choices and general retention. The Security guide explains how account credentials and encrypted communication are separated.

Safety reminder: NOID support will not ask for your PIN, password, private encryption key or complete device credential in order to start a deletion request.
